Cell Phones for Soldiers

By donating a used cell phone through Cell Phones for Soldiers, your credit union can help U.S. service members get a free 60-minute calling card. Your support of this initiative will be at no cost to your credit union or members.

Cell Phones for Soldiers addresses an everyday emotional need that everyone has experienced: the imperative to phone home… to hear a familiar voice while far away.

Cell Phones for Soldiers makes a difference.
Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded by teenagers Robbie and Brittany Bergquist from Norwell, MA, with $21 of their own money. Their goal is to help our soldiers serving overseas call home by providing prepaid phone cards.

Your credit union can make a difference.
By enrolling in Cell Phones for Soldiers, you can put your credit union ahead of the pack by having information and materials readily available for members to donate used cell phones.

A Point of Sale Kit will offer your members the convenience of one-stop donating at your credit union.

This no cost kit includes:

One collection box
100 plastic mailing envelopes (includes pre-addressed postage-paid BRC mailing label)
10 tear-off BRC return label pads (for shipping in something other than plastic mailing envelope – postage-paid)
3 posters (3’ x 5’).

Action Requested
Each participating credit union branch will receive a Point of Sale kit. Please provide the following information to IIA@cusolutionsgroup.com for each participating branch by June 10, 2011:

Invest in America and GM will be able to support the first 1,000 Point of Sales kits requested by credit unions. Don’t wait, submit your request now!

Timing
Invest in America will survey CUs for participation. Once all participation information is secured on June 10, 2011, GM will produce of the Point of Sale kits with a planned July 1, 2011 in-credit union launch.
